LiSUS participant struck by lightning dies



KUALA LUMPUR: One of the participants of the Sports League For All (LiSUS) programme's futsal event who was struck by lightning on Oct 13, has died.

In a statement, the Youth and Sports Ministry's (KBS) Corporate Communications Unit said Faizal Alli from Sabah was confirmed dead at around 11am today.

“He had been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) at the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia Medical Centre (PPUKM) since Oct 13 (Saturday), and breathed his last at 11.02am, today.

“KBS will further liaise with the family on returning the body to Tawau, Sabah, for burial,” said the statement.

Faizal, his teammate Abdul Wahid Habib Abdullah and Nurr Izati Kamsani who was with the Terengganu were struck by lightning during the football match at 4.30pm last Saturday.

Abdul Wahid had regained consciousness after the incident and Nurr Izati was reported of being in semi-critical condition. All of them were treated at the same hospital. — Bernama
