Fima Corp, Datasonic fail to reach resolution on passport case

PETALING JAYA: Fima Corp Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Percetakan Keselamatan Nasional Sdn Bhd and Datasonic Group Bhd’s wholly owned subsidiary Datasonic Technologies Sdn Bhd have failed to reach an amicable resolution in a civil suit involving Malaysian passport booklets.

In a filing with Bursa Malaysia, Fima said Percetakan Keselamatan Nasional had agreed to attempt mediation at the request of Datasonic Technologies during the case management on Oct 3.

The mediation took place on Oct 17 and 19, but the parties could not reach a resolution. The civil suit is now fixed for case management on Nov 2.

To recap, Percetakan Keselamatan Nasional had on July 30 commenced High Court action against Datasonic Technologies, with a claim for RM24.975 million (excluding interest and cost) being the amount due and owing by the latter to the former.

The claim amount is for 1.5 million Malaysian passport booklets which were supplied by Percetakan Keselamatan Nasional to Datasonic Technologies, which the latter has refused, failed and/or neglected to pay.
